ABOUT US : Our Founder
ART’S A BLAST HAS BEEN IN THE MAKING FOR OVER 30 YEARS. THAT’S HOW LONG SHAY CRONIN HAS BEEN TEACHING ART IN THE ROCKWALL AREA.
SHAY HAS TEAMED UP WITH LOCAL ART TEACHERS AND ARTISTS TO PROVIDE A MUCH NEEDED SERVICE TO THE ROCKWALL, HEATH, ROWLETT AND LAKE RAY HUBBARD COMMUNITIES. WITH A PASSION FOR BOTH TEACHING AND ART, SHAY REALIZED IT’S TIME TO TAKE IT BEYOND THE SCHOOL CLASSROOM AND LET EVERYONE IN ON THE FUN.
Shay’s formal training includes a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Art from Texas Tech University. She also has an Art Certification for grades K through 12. Her real training, however, came on the job ………… thirty years of teaching. The last 16 years came on the front lines, teaching middle schoolers how to (1) paint (2) draw & (3) sculpt.

Dana Johnston, M.Ed
Dana has taught for 27 years, with 25 of those years in Rockwall ISD. She was fortunate to work with Art's a Blast for 5 years, before retiring.
After retiring Dana took over Art's a Blast. She has enjoyed carrying on Shay's passion for art and the love of sharing that passion with students.
